Short-Chain Naphthoquinone Protects Against Both Acute and Spontaneous Chronic Murine Colitis by Alleviating Inflammatory Responses

چکیده

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is characterised by chronic, relapsing, idiopathic, and multifactorial colon inflammation. Recent evidence suggests that mitochondrial dysfunction plays a critical role in the onset recurrence of this disease. Previous reports highlighted potential short-chain quinones (SCQs) for treatment due to their reversible redox characteristics. We hypothesised recently described potent mitoprotective SCQ (UTA77) could ameliorate UC symptoms pathology. In dextran sodium sulphate- (DSS-) induced acute model C57BL/6J mice, UTA77 substantially improved DSS-induced body weight loss, disease activity index (DAI), length, histopathology. administration also significantly increased expression tight junction (TJ) proteins occludin zona-occludin 1 (ZO-1), which preserved intestinal barrier integrity. Similar responses were observed spontaneous Winnie chronic colitis, where DAI, Furthermore, potently suppressed elevated levels proinflammatory cytokines chemokines colonic explants both DSS-treated mice. These results strongly suggest or its derivatives be promising novel therapeutic approach human UC.

Protein Kinase D2 Protects against Acute Colitis Induced by Dextran Sulfate Sodium in Mice

Inflammatory bowel disease is characterized by dysregulation of the mucosal immune system resulting from impaired intestinal epithelial barrier function. Protein kinase D2 has been implicated in the regulation of immune responses. The present study was to define PKD2 might affect murine colitis. Colitis was induced in wild-type mice (PKD2WT/WT) and PKD2 catalytic activity deficient mice (PKD2SS...

Alpinetin attenuates inflammatory responses by suppressing TLR4 and NLRP3 signaling pathways in DSS-induced acute colitis

Alpinetin, a composition of Alpinia katsumadai Hayata, has been reported to have a number of biological properties, such as antibacterial, antitumor and other important therapeutic activities. However, the effect of alpinetin on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has not yet been reported. The purpose of this study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory effect and mechanism of alpinetin on dext...

Krüppel-Like Factor 5 Protects against Murine Colitis and Activates JAK-STAT Signaling In Vivo

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which is characterized by chronic or recurring inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, affects 1.4 million persons in the United States alone. KLF5, a Krüppel-like factor (KLF) family member, is expressed within the epithelia of the gastrointestinal tract and has been implicated in rapid cell proliferation, migration, and remodeling in a number of tissues. ...
